About

The story behind DRKSN Dev.

DRKSN Dev grew out of an interest in technology, automation and building practical solutions.

Why I started.

Technology has always drawn me in. Not for the technology itself, but for what you can solve with it. In my work I stand between the people who use systems and the people who build them. I find out where things get stuck, dig into the data and stay on it until it works. Because I started on the work floor, I know what it feels like when a system doesn’t do what you need.

At home that curiosity simply carried on. A house that runs itself smartly, a small server that sends a daily report on how everything is running, and websites for people around me. Always the same question: how do you make something that takes work off your hands, so you no longer have to think about it?

From idea to products of my own.

Our home is rarely quiet. A big family means lots of appointments, lots of switching and children who each need something to hold on to in their own way. For some children a predictable day isn’t a luxury but a necessity: knowing what comes next, seeing how long something will take and being able to show how they feel, even without words.

I looked for an app that brought all of that together and couldn’t find one. So I started building it myself. That is how Family Planner began: first for our own family, now for every family that needs overview, structure and calm.

That project showed what is possible when you build technology from everyday practice. With DRKSN Dev I now do exactly that, for products of my own and for businesses and organisations that want a website or app that really works.

What DRKSN Dev stands for.

Practical

The name.

DRKSN comes from Derksen, my surname. In the logo the e’s are left out and replaced by two dots: only what is needed. That is how I want to build, too.
